Welcome to Academic Systems Algebra! Maybe you’ve never learned math on a computer before, but there’s a lot that will be familiar to you here. Just like in other math classes, you will learn math concepts, solve problems, do homework, and take exams.

Before you can get started working with Academic Systems Algebra over the Internet, you need the following items:

  1. The URL to access the PLATO Learning Environment.
  2. Your log-on name and password for the PLATO Learning Environment
  3. A pencil for taking notes and working problems
  4. Scratch paper for doing calculations
  5. Headphones (optional)

Personal Academic Notebook: The Personal Academic Notebook for Academic Systems Algebra is available online as part of each lesson. You can view and print any of the lesson chapters in this file. The homework problems assigned in your online lesson are found at the end of each lesson chapter.

  • summaries of all lesson concepts
  • worked and partially worked sample problems
  • homework problems that give you an opportunity to practice online and offline
  • lesson practice tests that help you prepare for the final lesson quizzes (Complete solutions to each problem are included in the back of the Personal Academic Notebook.)
  • cumulative review problems that provide practice in all of the concepts covered to date (Use these problems to help you prepare for midterms and finals.)
